School visits are available in some areas either with the below authority or through industry connections.

Forests NSW - NSW

Forests NSW have exciting curriculum aligned excursion programs at Cumberland State Forest in Sydney, and Strickland State Forest near Gosford on the Central Coast of NSW.

Students gain an overview of forest management and forest ecology, and undertake a number of activities relevant to their area of study. Programs can cater for up to 90 students per day, and fees apply. Information on excursions programs can be found at www.forests.nsw.gov.au/education

National Forest Learning Centre or Forest Discovery Tours - Tasmania

The National Forest Learning Centre Hobart, is  purpose built Learning Centre which allows schools to spend an hour or two investigating various aspects of forest ecology, forest science and forest management through a range of hands‐on learning experiences developed by the Forest Education Foundation teachers.

Or you can request a Forestry Discovery Tour. There is nothing better than to experience a forest ecosystem first hand – the majestic views – the dramatic landscapes, so let the Forest Education Foundation guide you on an exploration of the magnificent forests of Tasmania. PIRSA Forestry- South Australia

PIRSA Forestry does not provide school visits, however we can assist South Australian teachers by providing advice and contacts for suitable people that can come and speak to school students in the classroom and on excursions.

Toolangi Forest Education Program - Victoria

Toolangi Forest Education Service provides education programs for people of all ages to experience the forest environment. During their four-hour programs, students visit the Toolangi State Forest to discover the giants of our Mountain Ash forests, the ancient beauty of cool temperate rainforest, and the many animal species that call our forests home.

Students gain an understanding of how our forests are managed and conserved, and how they can play a personal role in forest sustainability.

Their programs are:

  • led by experienced forest education staff
  • able to be tailored to the specific needs and interests of your group
  • designed to meet the Victorian Essential Learning Standards

Worksheets are available for each program to enable students to record their learning. These will be forwarded to teachers on booking a program.
